Writing Continues

We performed our brand new songs, Battle Cry and Down, for the first time at the Battle of the Bands earlier this month. While we are planning to book shows in late Spring, we are continuing to write new material for our follow-up album.  We are all excited about the direction the new material has taken and can’t wait to see how the rest of the pieces come together!

2nd Place in Battle of the Bands

For those of you who missed the epicness of the Clear Channel-Lake Cumberland Battle of the Bands last night… The Seas walked away with a 2nd Place finish and Michael won Vocalist of the Year. Congrats to Too Many Drummers for winning the battle this year!

The BATTLE is upon us….

We have one more rehearsal before the Clear Channel/Lake Cumberland Battle of the Bands takes place Saturday in Somerset.

We’ve spent the last couple of weeks getting our set/sets together. I feel like the sets are pretty tight…equal parts moody and devastating. We take the stage at 4:00pm sharp on Saturday.

If moody and devastating sounds like your cup of tea, come out, check out the set and hang out with us. With any luck, we’ll be playing another set later that night in the finals!!!!
See you soon!!!

New Music!!!

We have taken a few weeks off from gigging/rehearsing to concentrate on writing new material. I am super happy to say that we are the parents of two brand new songs…both very different from each other but both very much “The Seas!” The tentative titles of these new additions are “The Hunter” and “Battle Cry.” The first seems to be an exercise in opposing sounds…textural and atmospheric, then soaring and powerful, then digital and glitchy, and finally quiet an subdued. The latter is exactly what the title suggests, a battle cry. It’s a pretty heavy-duty track…driving and powerful with just the right mix of atmosphere and dynamics.

It’s been very inspiring going to rehearsal and just being creative. We are working on two or three other new songs right now as well. Hopefully, in a few more weeks, I can give you a hint of how the other songs are sounding!

…and back to work we go!!!

Wow! What a ride the last few weeks have been! We’ve played a couple of great shows over the last month or so! The first was the TGOT & Friends Festival in Lexington. What an awesome time! We got to hang out with some cool people and watch some super-great bands. The latest was the Jubilo Music and Arts Festival in Richmond, Ky. Once again, we got to hang out with some cool people and watch some killer bands. Our very own Logan Powell even got to introduce Unknown Hinson! Is that cool or what!!!???

Now that the Jubilo Festival is over, we are going to take a few weeks and work on new material. We have countless hours of music to sort through and piece together. I am confident that most of the new record has been written, we just have to arrange and finesse all of these pieces into actual songs. We have 3 new songs already written, the newest of which came into being last night at rehearsal. Like the last album, the songs range from atmospheric and ethereal to noisy and heavy. I am eager to see what the next few weeks produce!!!

Stay tuned…
