April Update!

We have a lot of exciting things happening in the near future!

First of all, we’ve spent the last few weeks listening to the first mix of our new track “Across the Earth.” We all agree that it sounds MASSIVE! We’ve made a few production notes and sent them back to Cecil and Ian at Groove Studio. Just a few tweaks and it will be ready. I hope you all are ready…

We’ve also been hard at work in the rehearsal room writing new music. We’ve got some passages of music that are truly magic. The easy part is coming up with new riffs… the hard part is buckling down and arranging these riffs into songs, which is pretty much where we are now. I expect 2 to 3 songs to come from this current batch of sounds we’re working with.

We have a show coming up at the Attic in Lexington on April 27. We will be performing with Lucid Grey and Somatic, so it’s sure to be a great show all around! We have a new setlist made for this show, and it’s going to feature our new cover of “My Sharona.” Forget everything that you know about this song… it is truly a brand new monster. You’ll see…

And finally…we have some cool festival news for late summer.

In August, we will be performing at a mini-music festival in Lexington hosted by The Greatest of These!  I will post more details on this as they become available, but it’s shaping up to be a great show!

We have also been selected to play the Jubilo Music and Art Festival  taking place on September 13 – 16 at Fort Boonesborough, KY! This festival is going to feature the best regional musicians as well as high-profile national acts, so it will be great for the music  scene of Kentucky. To make sure this festival gets off the ground running, Jubilo has set up a Kickstarter page and are accepting pledges. To learn more about the festival and to keep track of all the performers, visit their kickstarter page at http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/576128168/jubilo-music-and-arts-festival

See you soon,

Good stuff coming up!!!

Man, it was good to get back in the rehearsal room Friday night. We’ve been super-busy the last few weeks recording and playing shows, so being back in the rehearsal room felt like home. One of the cool things that comes from long drives to gigs is that there’s time to discuss ideas. One of the ideas that we discussed became reality Friday night as we worked up a cover of the Knack’s “My Sharona!”  If you’ve seen us live, you’ve probably seen us play a cover or two, but this one is different. Every cover that we’ve done in the past has been very close to the original, but we took this one and made it our own. It’s probably my favorite cover we’ve done! It’s very much a Seas song! You will hear soon!

Another thing you will hear soon is our new single, “Across the Earth.” I just got word from Cecil at Groove Studio that we should have it back this week! I am beyond excited for you all to hear it…heck, I’m beyond excited for ME to hear it.

As for what’s ahead, we’ll be spending the next few weeks writing. We have A LOT of very good ideas to sift through and flesh out.  I can’t wait to get in there and get to work!!!

…and so it begins…again!!!

The recording process has begun…again! We were back with our good friends Ian and Cecil at Groove Studio tonight. The drums and samples for our new song “Across the Earth” are finished, and I couldn’t be happier with the way the playback sounded. I used Cec’s DW’s, and they sounded MASSIVE. Guitar, bass and vocals go down tomorrow.

Michael and I brainstormed a LOT of new ideas on the way home tonight, from new art concepts to song arrangement ideas. After we get these next couple of shows finished, we’re gonna take a few weeks and flesh out some of these ideas!!

Speaking of these next couple of shows, we will be at Miss Kitty’s in Bowling Green on March 2nd and at The Attic in Lexington on March 9th. Both shows will also feature Gravel Switch! Sure to be some good times and excellent music. I hope to see you all at one of the shows!

Cool stuff happening in the next couple of weeks!

We had an awesome rehearsal last night! We worked up a new set for the Miss Kitty’s show in Bowling Green on March 2nd! The songs sounded tight and powerful. Should be a great show!

Friday, we head back to Groove Studio in Berea to record our new song “Across the Earth”.  I am going to track drums and samples Friday night and the rest of the guys will track Saturday. I really can’t wait to hear this song recorded! It’s my personal favorite!

Show at The Attic in Lexington Saturday, January 28….and other things!

We have a show at The Attic in Lexington  Saturday, January 28! We just rehearsed the new setlist for the show and I have to say, it sounded KILLER tonight! The new set features the return of United/Divided, which we’ve had to drop from the set the past few shows due to it’s length. It feels good to have it back in the rotation…all 8 minutes of it!

We also worked on a new riff built from some samples I had made earlier in the week. My initial inspiration came from being hooked on the new Florence +the Machine album, but the samples turned out sounding closer to late 80’s era Ministry…all synth bass-y and machine like! It’s pretty dark sounding stuff, and what Logan and Jeremy contributed to it was incredible. We’re already talking about some unexpected twists and turns for it, so I can’t wait to see how it turns out.

…and…after rehearsal, we started working on a little surprise! You’ll see….soon….

The Battle is Over…

…and we came away with a 3rd place trophy and 200 bucks! We were super-excited just to make it through to the 2nd round, so taking 3rd place feels GREAT!!! The best part about the whole weekend was making new fans. Big thanks to everyone who supported us at the battle. Your kind words mean a lot to us!

Now, I guess it’s back to the basement to work. We’ve got a few new pieces of music to wrap our heads around and a new cover to tighten up.
